We are the Midland Puffin Billies Golden Oldies

(Over 35’s) Rugby Union Club.

Golden Oldies rugby has modified rules that have been designed to increase the enjoyment of the game while minimising the risk of injury.

Over 35’s and up play the game. With over 60 year olds or younger players with medical conditions wearing colour coded shorts to help avoid injury.

We “train” on Wednesday evenings from 7pm at Brown Park, Cnr Amherst Rd & Salisbury Rd, Swan View. Training is not a pre requisite to play but it is a good idea. It helps to provide a regular level of fitness and time to meet up with the guys to have your chance to catch up on a game or two, or to gloat over your teams win with someone that cares.

Games are every 2 weeks during season.(April-Oct) with game locations available from our fixtures link.Start times are usually between 1pm & 3pm and are confirmed the week before the game. We have members from most rugby nations that attend the club with Australian, New Zealand, Irish, Welsh & English supporters attending and playing on a regular basis.

As a club we operate 12 months a year with Rugby Union from April to October and other events like Golf, Fishing, Cycling & Kids Xmas functions happening at various stages throughout the year.

International tours are also a regular event with Air NZ World Festivals held every two years. Recent trips have been to Wellington New Zealand in 2006, Edinburgh Scotland 2008 and most recently Tokyo Japan for the 2009 Bledisloe.
